I have LOST GARY COLEMAN yet AGAIN!!!

“What You Talkin’ About Willis?”

– Arnold Jackson

If that phrase doesn’t resonate with you, stop reading this blog and go about

your day. I am not about to explain it. For those of you that are with me and

loved Gary Coleman, it’s fair to say that when we heard of his passing in

2010, it hurt…a little.  I always told myself that one day I would write more

stories as I got older, so here goes.

18 months ago I got sick as hell as I captured the double whammy of Covid and Bronchitis, nearly at the same time.  It sucked!  In comparison, I actually enjoyed getting my tonsils removed and my deviated septum (nose) straightened simultaneously much, much more.

Prior to my mentioned life changing event and through most of my adult life I usually felt tired and relatively weak overall. I never really felt as if I needed to make any significant changes to my health because I was happily married, food tasted good to me and I didn’t drink alcohol anymore so I was setting a good example for my children.

As if losing Gary Coleman wasn’t bad enough, I ended up doing it again. This one had its ups and downs, good days and bad days but overall it was a life changing experience that has been a fun, yet challenging process.

It’s crazy to think that at my heaviest weight, I was equal to 3.8 Gary Coleman’s.  As you calculate his weight, I am going to continue my story.

For me, I didn’t set out to lose Gary Coleman in pounds but my actions ultimately achieved it.  Here’s what I did:

  1. I started drinking water and basically eliminated pop from my diet.  This was actually the hardest part for me since pop was my vice after giving up alcohol some 15 years ago.  The first 3 weeks were brutal with headaches all over the place and a high sense of sugar cravings.
  2. Each day I committed to 1 salad, either at lunch or dinner. This wasn’t a science but I probably averaged 5-6 salads a week and it worked.  Nope!  I didn’t worry about what dressing I put on the salad or anything like that, I just decided to substitute one shitty meal with some greens.  Sometimes, I would bake asparagus or YouTube how to cook Baked Brussels Sprouts. Sometimes they were good and sometimes they were trash, but they filled me up.
  3. I studied YouTube and found Dr Gundry. I binged on his videos and worked to memorize and incorporate all the lectin free foods that he would suggest into my diet.  I bought his powders and his pills (Bio Complete 3)and used them.  I realized that I needed to start eating for my gut and not for myself.
  4. I quit dairy, mostly. This one’s the craziest because I grew up on milk and thought it was the only place I could get strong bones.  Boy, was I wrong and come to find out (self diagnosed by me) that I was lactose intolerant for all these years.  I found out what it meant to have normal bowel movements and not a shit storm of watery misery.
  5. I started making almond milk shakes about two-three times a week with mixed berries, bananas and pineapple. It was random, and still is, but I will keep making them to substitute a meal now and then.
  6. I limited my breads and started to be a skeptic of all foods including things like corn and lunch meat.  I didn’t abstain from things like cheeseburgers, they just were the very last thing on my “go to list”
  7. I stopped eating processed sugars and in addition to wiping pop/soda from my diet, I started eating foods located on the exterior aisles of the grocery store.
  8. While I considered the whole vegan thing or even KETO type diets, I decided against them initially but I am looking into them to further my next radical diet change.
  9. I fell back on my greatest strength called stubbornness and realized that I could do this if I willed it to happen, so I did.
  10. When my wife made dinner, I fucking ate it and I liked it. I tried not to make my diet change anyone else’s pain, but I did happen to see a slow improvement to my families eating habits as I led by an annoying example.
  11. I replaced Fruit Loops  (banned in certain countries) for breakfast with Vitamin D, B12, Tumeric, Vitamin C, Iron, B complex, Zinc, Apple Cider Vinegar, Fish Oil, Dr Gundry’s BioComplete 3 and Joe Rogan’s Alpha Brain in addition to 1 pieces of fruit.  (At suggested amounts)

Here’s what I now believe and what I learned as I now come in at an astounding 260 pounds.

FOODS CREATE DISEASE and the modern day marketing companies that target kids and families through foods like cereals and other drinks are the reason America is obese and will continue to struggle. I now think breakfast is a scam and it’s not about what your diet is per say but rather your caloric intake is.

Put the tinfoil hat on me now but I am going to call it as I now clearly see it.

While I have lost Gary Coleman, yet again…this time it was in pounds and I feel pretty good about it.

Thanks Gary for walking with a little bit of a chip on your shoulder and standing up for yourself. You were and hopefully, respectfully so, still are.  Thanks kid!
